Sunday Message: Targeted bodies, praying bodies, detained bodies, baby bodies, disabled bodies, embracing bodies, bombed bodies, singing bodies, burned bodies, displaced bodies, healing bodies, hypersexualized bodies, invisible bodies, aging bodies, imprisoned bodies, dancing bodies, crying bodies. The human history is an overwhelming story of bodies and what we do for/to/with them. Our Christian tradition, drawing from the writings attributed to Paul, has used the body as a metaphor for the Church. Looking at the different alignments of churches today given our contemporary political contexts, what does this body look like? What is it wearing, doing, and saying? If the Church is the body of Christ, why is it aligning with empire, rather than bringing good news to the oppressed? What story do we tell as the body of Christ?
